TravelPulse.com reports this morning that Norwegian Cruise Line issued a statement to its employees that the first F3 new-build cruise ship now being built by Aker Yards in France has been cancelled, with no decision yet about what to do with the contract for a second F3 vessel in the works. Other media said over the weekend that Aker Yards has contacted other cruise lines about picking up the partially built ship – a challenge, since the F3 design was promoted as being very different from other standard cruise ship layouts. Both F3 ships had been set to debut in 2010. Officially, NCL says it does not comment on “commercial or legal disputes.” See http://www.bookncl.com/.
